An Airman at Vandenberg AFB, California, accused of various felony counts of drug distribution, use and possession, faced a Special Court Martial for the charges made against him. Associate Duane Kees began representing the Airman after he had signed two confessions and consented to the searches of his barracks room and car. The searches led to the discovery of significant evidence materially harmful to his defense.
Once retained, Mr. Kees filed several motions which suppressed all the Airman’s confessions and the evidence discovered by the various searches. The defense also prevented two key government witnesses from testifying at trial.
After a two-day trial including five hours of deliberation by the panel (jury), a not guilty verdict was reached on all charges, which carried a combined maximum prison sentence of 35 years.
