The Department of Justice previously charged 22 defendants with foreign bribery under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act based upon an FBI led undercover sting operation involving a fictitious weapons sale in excess of $1 million to the nation of Gabon. The AHLG won a dismissal of all charges against its client Daniel Alvirez after Judge Leon had dismissed the conspiracy count and the first two trials had resulted in hung juries.
