A Nurse Captain stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, was charged with two counts of false official statements regarding the falsification of medical documents and treatment. The Captain was facing the possibility of ten years confinement and dismissal from the service if convicted.
Duane Kees was able to discredit the credibility of the government’s main witness and call into question the government’s theory of the case. As a result, the Captain only received a sentence of forfeiture of three months pay with no confinement, despite being convicted on both counts. The Captain is still on active duty and is still serving honorably in the medical profession.
